Proceeds from the Fall Harvest Dinner support the work of the Neill-Cochran House Museum which includes Reckoning with the Past, the ongoing project to restore Austin's last intact slave quarters. The NCHM Slave Quarters is currently under renovation, and the first floor with be open for touring during the Fall Harvest Dinner! See preservation in progress and support our efforts to bring real Austin history to life.


Explore the diversity of Texas food culture in this unique dining experience at the Neill-Cochran House Museum. Tasting Texas: Historic Foodways is a new series of dining experiences at the Museum showcasing acclaimed local chefs and highlighting Texas food culture.

For the Fall Harvest Dinner, Chef Damien Brockway (Distant Relatives) presents a menu inspired by seasonal autumn ingredients of the Lone Star State. Under the stars in our Centennial Courtyard, diners will enjoy a three-course dinner prepared specifically for this event and hear the chef tell the history and significance behind each dish. Pecan Wood Smoked Pork Belly & Brisket, Sea Island Red Peas & Rice, Skillet Bread

Sweet Potato Tart, Orange-Allspice Merengue, Coffee-Chocolate Ganache

MEET THE CHEF:

Damien Brockway
Chef and pitmaster Damien Brockway graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2003. He has worked at nationally-recognized establishments in Boston, San Francisco, and Austin.

Damien’s culinary project, Distant Relatives, started in 2021, is inspired by the textures, flavors, heritage and narrative of the African diaspora within the United States and as such employs strong elements of Pecan and mixed hardwood smoke, heightened spice profiles, traditional preservation methods and a nose to tail, root to stem approach utilizing products from our local food system.
