Secretary Desk, c. 1790-1810
Late Georgian mahogany secretary constructed in two pieces. The top section has a broken pediment top and doors with oval panels of amboyna wood surrounded by line inlay, opening to a bookcase. The lower section has a slant-front that opens to an interior fitted with pigeonholes and drawers. Secretary contains a secret compartment, the leather makes a good writing surface, and the piece has ogee bracket feet. Gift of Mr. Robert W. McClendon
