Built in 1856, the NCHM Slave Quarters is the only intact slave dwelling left standing in the city of Austin. Now newly restored, this building is the last touchstone to a difficult but crucially important history.

Urban Enslavement in Austin - The NCHM Slave Quarters Tour is a guided tour of the building and grounds exploring the complicated influence of slavery on the city and how the impact of that institution resounds even today.

This one-hour tour is offered on the third Saturday of every month starting at 1:30pm. After the tour, visitors will have time to take the self-guided audio tour of the main house and view the rotating exhibitions. The self-guided audio tour is included in the price of Urban Enslavement in Austin - The NCHM Slave Quarters Tour.
