STORYTELLERS
Kate Caldwell
Kate Caldwell is a performer and writer in Austin, TX with a BA in Theatre and Dance from UT Austin. She has been in a litany of plays, sketch troupes, and storytelling shows over the years. Most recently she served as the artistic director for Testify, a storytelling show and organization, from its inception in 2013 until 2021, when she had a baby but still had to work full time. She's still figuring out that whole "balance" thing. We'll see. Kate hates bios, but loves fried chicken and whiskey.
Josh davis
Josh Davis has been telling stories ever since grown-ups started asking him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He is a dance teacher, musician, and fixture in the local storytelling scene.
SARA Laas
Sara Puig Laas grew up in Laredo, where she could see Mexico from the backyard of her Grandma's riverbank home. The adventures and misadventures available on both sides of the Rio Grande are an endless source of stories — even though people in other parts of the country sometimes find them hard to believe. Sara spent a career in journalism and human resources interviewing more than 1000 people about their stories. Now she shares her own onstage and is working on a book of memoir essays.
chris mack
Dr. Chris A. Mack is a former University of Texas professor, a current tech entrepreneur, and self-taught storyteller. When he is not desperately trying to keep up with software developers twice as bright and half his age, he enjoys time with his wife Susan and their two teenagers. Life is good.
mike mournigham
Mike Mournighan is an improviser (ComedySportz Austin), twitch streamer (DemoDuo.tv), and, most recently, a storyteller. He discovered Austin by accident and wished his two-stop-light town in rural New York good-bye! In 2023, Mike found live storytelling and he hasn't stopped thinking or talking about it since! He set up storytellingaustin.com to help stay on top of events in the local scene. If you can't find Mike on stage in Austin, check around ABIA, his recliner, or his xbox.
Emily thompson
Growing up in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it town, Emily fell in love with writing at a young age as an escape from the monotony. On her 8th birthday she was gifted a typewriter and on her 18th a class on novel writing. Defying the odds as a college drop out, Emily has successfully spent the last 10 years turning that passion into a profession as a Marketing Director in the Austin tech scene. Recently she has taken her love of storytelling to the stage.
Outside of writing, Emily can be found frequenting the Austin dog parks, trying Austin’s flavor-of-the-month restaurant, or just hanging out waiting for the next season of Stranger Things..
Susan Mack (Emcee)
A regular on the Austin storytelling performance scene, Susan Mack has more than 20 years experience with corporate and personal storytelling. She's currently pursuing her MFA with Vermont College of Fine Arts.
