Cost: $15 for nonmembers, $10 for students. All proceeds support the Neill-Cochran House Museum.

STORYTELLER BIOS

CAROL RAMSEY

Carol Ramsey is a teacher of computer science. She tells stories, and walks her dog. She accidentally told her first story at a Toastmaster's meeting 20 years ago, and she's never stopped. She's told stories in Austin, Houston, Chicago, and London, and taught storytelling for churches and non-profits.

AARON SALINAS

Aaron Salinas is Texas native with a love of brisket, Selena and a good hug. He is an award winning actor, writer and director and is new to this whole story telling thing. However he comes from a long line of story tellers, you have probably bumped into one or two of them at your local cookout or watering hole all throughout South Texas. If he’s not in a show or on the Over The Lege podcast he’s probably figuring something out in the kitchen and would love if you came over for dinner.

MATTHEW STONER

After growing up in rural Ohio, Matthew finds himself confidently and curiously confused. “What is our purpose exactly?” *In a kind but firm midwestern accent* Doesn't matter because you bet your ass that Matthew is going to have a hell of a time, inspire others to geek out, and eat tons of snacks!

You can find Matthew as a co-host and producer for Hyde Park Storytelling, performing improv and sketch comedy throughout Texas, and even catch his left shoulder in Richard Linklater's Boyhood. Matthew's stories and performances have been featured at shows and festivals like Mortified, Backyard Storynight, Dallas Comedy Festival, Trill Fest (Houston), Phoenix Improv Festival, and Del Close Marathon (NYC).

ELLEN SWEETS

Ellen Sweets is an author and former reporter for the Dallas Morning News, the Denver Post, and the St Louis Post-Dispatch; and she's a freelance writer who has appeared in the Austin-American Statesman, the Texas Observer, the Texas Tribune, and Edible Austin. She's also the author of Stirring It Up with Molly Irvins, and a James Beard Award winner for her food writing.

Now retired, she spends her time writing, telling stories, and revolutionizing.

EMILY THOMPSON

Growing up in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it town, Emily fell in love with writing at a young age as an escape from the monotony. On her 8th birthday she was gifted a typewriter and on her 18th a class on novel writing. Defying the odds as a college drop out, Emily has successfully spent the last 10 years turning that passion into a profession as a Marketing Director in the Austin tech scene. Recently she has taken her love of storytelling to the stage.

Outside of writing, Emily can be found frequenting the Austin dog parks, trying Austin’s flavor-of-the-month restaurant, or just hanging out waiting for the next season of Stranger Things..

SUSAN MACK (EMCEE)

A regular on the Austin storytelling performance scene, Susan Mack has more than 20 years experience with corporate and personal storytelling. She's currently pursuing her MFA with Vermont College of Fine Arts.
