In an age of cell phones and electric cars, it’s hard to grasp the enormous impact that Austin’s first streetlighting system had on city residents. The iconic towers are the last of their kind in the world. Join author and filmmaker Jeffrey Kerr for an entertaining look at the history of the wondrous structures that carried Austin into the modern age.

This evening Modern Times will be available in person at the Neill-Cochran House Museum, and online. Complimentary cider from event sponsor Moontower Cider will be available for in person attendees. Free parking is available behind the Museum.

Jeffrey Kerr’s book, Seat of Empire: The Embattled Birth of Austin, Texas, is available for purchase during registration or at the lecture. A shipping option is available for those attending remotely. Books purchased remotely will be signed by the author at the lecture and shipped after the event.

To attend online, register and receive the Zoom meeting link by email ahead of the lecture.
