Traveling Trunk, c. 1840-1860

Round-top American leather trunk. With single handle and dropped-forged metal trim. The oak trunk trays were covered in canvas, which remains in decent condition in some areas and in poor condition or missing elsewhere. The trunk also features bands o colored printed paper pasted over the canvas. Contains a “Houston Trunk Factory” label on the interior of the lid. Gift of Wilkerson and Hutcheson Estates, 1973.
