Annie Lyle Harmon:
On Her Own Path
On display September 8 - December 19, 2021
Opening Reception September 18
4-6PM, Doors Open at 3:30
Registration not required
Annie Lyle Harmon was a professional woman painter in the San Francisco area from the late nineteenth into the twentieth century. She focused on intimate landscape scenes that, much as was true for her acclaimed teacher and mentor William Keith, removed the viewer from evidence of human intrusion into the natural wonderland that was California’s central Pacific coast.
This spotlight exhibition brings together 17 paintings from one Austin collection and situates Harmon within the rapidly changing social, cultural, and environmental context of California in the post-Gold Rush era.
This exhibition is made possible through the generous contributions of Ms. Betty Boone Williams and Art inSight Inc.
